Youth: Are Tomorrow’s Leaders 4/5

Colorful illuminated sign displaying the motivational message 'Time for Change'.

The country is already free. What more do I want. I shall put in minimum effort and gather maximum profit” – this is the attitude of the youth of our country now.

If the entire generation is like this, which party can help you, which government can help you, which Prime Minister can help you, which President can help you. Our President may the greatest philosopher. Our Prime Minister may be a most courageous leader and a man of foresight. But until the masses change their mental attitude, our country cannot take a high place.

The masses only imitate the educated cream of society. If the educated class acts with diligence and dignity, all the others will automatically follow this good path. We do not take pride in our achievements. That national spirit has gone…. We have sat back to commercialise…. There is nothing to inspire them. Ethics is not the method by which we can gain and grow progressively. How to Live is taught in spiritual literature. We must give them an inspiring idea which will bring out of them greater possibilities that are already in them. Try to understand our responsibilities to the nation.

A generation of intelligent youth who stand poised to act, determined to help the Nation to rise from its century-old stupor, calamitous man-made tragedies, such a generation of dynamic young ones must necessarily know the secret techniques of discovering in themselves endless energy, hope and inspiration. . .
