Drug Demand Reduction Program

The westernised way of living has led to the decline of moral values and ethics. Especially the youth of our Bharat are the victims of such life style.

The young minds easily get attracted to negativity and they are made slaves to drugs and humanity is lost

To safeguard our youth and humanity, our Chinmaya Yuva Kendra members are certificate holders and are trained faculties to reach out with fellow feelings and carrying brother’s love

They are approaching schools, colleges and Universities appraising the management for conducting Drug demand reduction programs at their place

The Growing Crisis of Drug Abuse in Rural North Coastal Andhra Pradesh

Drug abuse among youth in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh is on the rise, threatening families, communities, and the future of countless young individuals.

๐Ÿ“Œ Staggering Statistics on Drug Addiction in India:ย

โœ” India is South Asiaโ€™s largest consumer of heroin, with the illegal drug trade worth โ‚น20 lakh crore annually.
โœ” 89% of drug addicts in India are enrolled in formal Education, proving that awareness alone is not enoughโ€”proactive intervention is needed.
โœ” Substance abuse is rapidly increasing in tier-2 and rural areas, where rehabilitation support is scarce (Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment).
โœ” Peer pressure, unemployment, and lack of guidance are leading causes of addiction (AIIMS & NDDTC studies).

Drug addiction is not just a personal struggle; it is a social disaster affecting education, employment, health, and families.

India is vulnerable to narcotic drug trafficking as it is located between two largest Opium producing regions of the world

Our Solution: Chinmaya Missionโ€™s Drug Demand Reduction Program

To combat this growing epidemic, Chinmaya Mission Visakhapatnam West has launched the Drug Demand Reduction Programโ€”a structured initiative that prevents addiction before it starts and empowers youth to lead a drug-free life.

Key Focus Areas of the Programย

โœ” School & College Awareness Programs โ€“ Educating students about the dangers of substance abuse through interactive workshops and real-life stories.
โœ” Marathon Walks & Freedom Runs โ€“ Community-driven initiatives promoting a drug-free lifestyle and youth empowerment.
โœ” Mental Resilience & Emotional Well-being Sessions โ€“ Teaching youth how to handle stress, anxiety, and peer pressure positively.
โœ” Counselling & Rehabilitation Support โ€“ Providing one-on-one guidance and connecting individuals with professional help.
โœ” Leadership & Youth Empowerment Programs โ€“ Engaging young people in productive activities to keep them away from harmful influences.
